Click here for her progress from April - November 2007

January 12th, 2008 - WOW!! WOW!!! She earns two wows this month!!! To
start off our day at SSC Jewel gets a 19.555 in barrels. THEN......gets a 24.617 in Poles. I am not sure I can
be more happy. She did great in the other two events ending the day with two 2nds, a 3rd and a 4th (I believe).
With her nice consistancy she came away with RESERVE HI-POINT!!!! Her first trophy. I didn't expect anything like this since we haven't gotten to practice much
with all the rain and mud. Obviously, there were things in both our barrel and pole runs that most definately could
be improved. That's a great feeling. Nine months to get a 24 second Pole run. February 3rd - WOW!! WOW!!! WOW!!! She is now up to 3 wows. This girl keeps amazing
me. We ran at Empty Acres with PBRA. Her first pole run was 25.194 but then she fired back on her second one with
a......... 23.963. She is really getting a feel for this. I just hope that she stays consistant. For her
barrels she had 3 different runs. An 18.158, 18.218 and an 18.357. But the pattern is smaller than a standard
size and it is about a second faster by most accounts. That would put Jewel in the fast 19's so I am still happy
with her runs today. February 10th - OK, so the great runs continue but I'll stop with the WOW's.
At SSC today Jewel got an 18.250 in barrels for a 2nd place. The 2nd month of the year and she got an 18! In Tunnel
Vision she got 9.413 for a first. In Poles she did petty well with a 25.2 for a fourth. Her final event was the
Big "H" getting a 20.134 for another first. This was also the speed horse event of the day. She ended
up first in the 2D. Bummer (sort of)since she was 2nd in the 3D last month. She also did pretty well for Katie
who got a 19.1 and it's only her 3rd time riding Jewel. Oh, yeah.....we got HI-POINT!!!! I just found out
that Jewel was the "Smokin" (fastest) time of the DAY in the Tunnel Vision. Woo-Hoo!! Way to go Jewel. February 16th - Still doing great! Steph and I rode Jewel at New River in just barrels and poles.
Steph didn't do very well but she hasn't ridden her in awhile. I got a 19.096 which is a tiny step back
from last week but I expected that. Same thing in poles as we got a 25.068. I am still very pleased that she is
staying pretty consistant. March 2nd - Had a pretty nice day with the PBRA at Empty Acres. We got an 18.120 in barrels
and a 25.050 in poles. She is staying consistant in the 25's for poles so I am very happy about that. April 6th - We were back out running the PBRA at Empty Acres. I just wasn't really on
our timing today. The progressive barrel run was an 18.6. I decided to do a new run for the 4D and and we
improved getting an 18.2 But were a little too fast landing in the bottom of the 3D. May 4th - Another good day at PBRA. Jewel got a 25.?? in Poles and an 18.0? in barrels. I think that's
her fastest barrel time with this association. May 10th -
I just did a barrel and pole run at New River. Jewel was a bit sluggish in barrels getting a 19.6 but
did nicely in poles getting a 24.7. We'll take it! May
17th - This was a nite of "bests" for her. Jewel
was really on her game tonight at SSC Our barrel run was an 18.239 for FIRST and her fast time to date!!
Then she got a 22.927 in the Bridwell Bonsai for a 3rd. She answered back in the poles with ........ a 23.723 for another
first and again..her best time to date! The Tailspin she got an 11.?? but ended up 6th. We were nice and smooth
but not really cookin. Either way the runs were great enough to hold out for High Point! We also
got points in the Speed Horse right where we needed them. We were 2nd in the 2D. That keeps us at 1st place (by
6 pts.) for a saddle with total of 16pts. Jewel also did a fabulous
job for Carrie's niece, Katie. She got a 4th in barrels with a 20.655. Just had a little flub at barrel one but
she did very nice for the rest of the run. In the Bridwell Bonsai I think she ended up 6th with a 27.181. Then
Jewel really outdid herself with a 25.275 in the poles getting her a 2nd place!! That is no easy task in that age group.
Then she got another 2nd in the Tailspin. I thought that would net her reserve but I think she was 3rd overall in her
class. Jewel is sure coming along nicely. I couldn't be happier. May 31st - OK, so I rode Jewel for the barrels at the NBHA event. She
did pretty good getting an 18.249 but fell in the cracks. The ground seemed deep. Oh, well.
