How ironic I used Pine trees behind Jessie in this photo, now she's going back home to Oregon.

January 2008
Well, On New Years Eve day, Stephanie received a call from one of her friends saying that she was sure she had just seen little Jessie run out at Empty Acres.  I called Deanne to see if Jessie and her granddaughter came to AZ.  She returned my call and confirmed that indeed they had come from Oregon for a few weeks.  Kaylee was only doing time onlys as her and Jessie are still trying to get used to each other.  She had received a 19.1 and a 20.2 (I think she said).  I was gonna try and see them run Wed. night at Dunns but they moved the time up too early for me.  I called Deanne on Friday and she said they ran in a youth class and Kaylee got an 18.7 and won!  She was excited and hoped that would help her confidence.  She wasn't sure if Kaylee was gonna ride on Saturday the 5th. but would call.  I never got a call so I don't know if she ran or not.  They are heading home on the 11th so I don't guess we'll get to see her.  Sounds like they may finally be clicking.  I am so happy to hear that.

August 2007
The update was not what I had hoped.  Apparently, Kaylee and Jessie aren't quite clicking yet.  Deanne thinks that maybe Kaylee is too small for Jessie.  Gma still wants to get her to her house to work with them (they live 3 hours apart) because she still believes it could be a great match.  Otherwise she may find a girl a little older to try her hand with Jessie.  Bummer because Kaylee could have so many years with her.  We'll see.  :- (

I am sooo happy to say that I spoke with Deanne....... Jessie missed her first Pee Wee event because she decided to kick out at one of her "ranch mates" and hurt her back leg slightly on the fence.  Sounds like she misses her comfort zone and having Mr.Thomas to snuggle with.  Prior to that Kaylee has been enjoying riding Jessie around the ranch gathering cattle, to which Jessie is said to be doing great! Kaylee has had better luck practicing the Poles. They just aren't quite in sync yet with the barrels. Gma say Kaylee is so small it's a bit harder for her to get Jessie to sit on her rear-end around the barrel. She hopes to have both of them stay at her house for a few weeks when school is out to really help them along. Jessie is resting but should have her first event here soon. She will let us know once they have one under their belt.  Jessie will have to get re-acclimated to Oregon weather....the highs have been 40 and the lows around 20.  Come on warm weather!

Feb. 3-4th, 2007 we participated in the 2-day barrel event at Larkyn Arena.  I rode Jessie in the Open and had them announce she was for sale.  On Saturday she got an 18.8 falling in the 3-D cracks. Then on Sunday she got an 18.9 snagging a 5th place check in the open 4-D.  I think that officially makes it 8 - 18sec runs in her last 9 events.  Well, she caught the eye of many people but one in particular thought she would be perfect for her 8year old granddaughter back in Oregon who is ready to run the Pee Wee Rodeos.  This little girl is now the new owner of our Little Miss Jessie.  Gma won't be heading back for a month but Jessie is already with her in Whitmann.  It is so strange to not see her out there when we feed.  I know in my heart that these are really great people and Jessie will have an awesome home.  She taught ALL 3 of us soooo much and will be missed beyond belief but this is the best thing for her.  This young lady has an older, somewhat harder to control horse and is getting 19's/20's.  With Jessie's experience Kaylee will be able to concentrate and perfect her own form and not worry so much about what the horse is doing.  We will keep Jessie's page here and post updates and photos of how they are progressing.  I hope to see her win a Pee Wee championship for 2007.  There are also 2 little boys in line to maybe do some breakaway on her.  Gma has already introduced her to a rope and the Heel O' Matic.  She said Jessie did just fine.  Just knowing that Jessie will help another child further their dreams is the best part of this whole deal.  We love and will miss you Jessie girl.
Congrats to Kaylee we hope/know that you will love her just as much as we do.  Can't wait to hear about your first event with her.  Believe in her and she will take you down that road!  Carrots and Peppermint treats are her favorites.  Make sure you have plenty on hand!
