March 19: NBHA - Stephanie rode both days getting
a 21.213 on Saturday and a 19.662 on Sunday. At the last minute on Sunday I decided to do a run on Jessie and she did an 18.709
getting her a check for 3rd in the Open 4D.
April 15: New River - Steph rode Jessie and got
5th place in 3 of 4 events (Barrels, Poles & Double Bowtie)out of 13 riders. She really did awesome in keeping her turns
tight and I believe she got her fastest time in barrels so far a 19.582.
April 29: NBHA - This dynamic Duo got a 19.2 and placed 3rd in the 3D. AWESOME!
April 30:
SSC - Each event they get better and better. Steph got ANOTHER 19 in barrels (19.061)
and was 3rd out of 13+ riders. She was smokin' in the poles until one jumped in front of her. She would've had a 24.916 and
first place by 2 seconds but even with the penalty she still got 5th. Add another 3rd and 5th which gave her a tie for reserve.
She was edged out in the run off but this being only the 3rd SSC event and already running for HiPoint/Reserve is phenominal.
Had that pole stayed standing she would've had Hi Point. Just the fact that she was not holding Jessie back was great. Watch
out 'cause here they come!
May 13th: SSC - What ANOTHER great ride these two had. They were on FIRE in the Mountain Cowhorse (which was
the 4D Speed event of the day). They dominated their class in that event with a 1st place and went on to take 2nd in the 1st
division of the 4D. THEIR TIME WAS 3rd FASTEST OF THE DAY!! From out of nowhere...they are now hanging with the top 5 in that
age group.
May 27th: NBHA - With a 19.631 Steph was 2nd in the 4D and took home a little cash to boot. Hey where's my cut? Funny
how that works! With a little time off for the summer, Jessie should be ready to go for the next NBHA in August.
Aug.
12th: These
two had a descent start after the long break. In barrels they got a 19.9 which placed them 8th in their class of 23 riders.
She was about 12th place in the Turn-n-Burn with a time of 10.590. She was going at a super pace in the Cats Cradle event
when Jessie stumbled around her 3rd turn. which put them out of contention for points. Not much you can do in that situation.
They still have 3 months so we'll see what happens. She is about 6th place overall in her age group so she is still doing
just fine.
Sept.
10th: Jumping
between the two horses is proving to be a challenge for Stephanie. Her barrels were nice. A little wide on #1 but she got
a 19.705 which earned them a 6th out of about 20 riders. They had a nice run in tunnel vision but were not in the ribbons.
Pole Bending was tuff with a no time. They redeemed themselves in the speed barrels and got a 6th. It was a really tough
day for many of the riders. The heat (no wind) and just really fresh, onery horses.
Sept.
23rd: We had
a pretty good night competing at the first ever AzBRA event. I got a 19.170 which earned Jessie a 5th place check in division
4. Stephanie got a 19.222 which placed her 2nd in the Youth 3D. Steph is right there in the running for the Saddle series
"Youth" buckle on Jessie.
Oct.
28th: What
a great two runs little Miss Jessie had at the AzBRA event this weekend. With myself, she ran an 18.811 that put her 9th
in the 3D. Stephanie didn't push Jessie to barrel #1 or between 1 & 2 so she got a 19.794. Although, all three turns
were beautiful. That netted her a check for first in the 4D youth division. Now Stephanie is in a 3-way tie for the saddle
series Youth Buckle. The tie is with herself on Jessie AND Jet as well as with another young girl. Way to go!.
Nov.
12th: We had
a very nice final SSC event. I only ran her in the barrels to which she got an 18.989 for a 3rd place. Her 3rd turn was
spectacular. Steph didn't leave her pocket so they knocked the first barrel. They redeemed themselves in the Poles with
a 25.764 for a 6th place. In the Crazy 8 she was 2nd in the 3D for the Speed horse event.
Nov.
19th & 20th: WOW! WOW! WOW! Jessie has had 18's 6 out of the last 8 runs she has had. I have
to say...If you want your horse to go faster have them announce she's for sale! She is NOT making it easy for me to sell
her. Yesterday, I rode her at the NBHA and she got an 18.558 which put her just out of the checks with a 5th in the Open
3D. THEN....today at the AzBRA I got her fastest time ever....18.104! I couldn't believe it. That put her 7th in the open
3D and 27th out of 57 open riders. Then Stephanie fired back with an 18.645 putting her 3rd in the Youth 2D. That is her
first 18 on Jessie EVER! I believe that puts her 3rd overall in the Youth for the Saddle. The final hilite of the day was
when a lady asked to ride Jessie just to see how she handled (she may know a kid that would fit her). With no practice or
anything she went out and ran an 18.3. She really turned some heads today. This was a standard sized pattern. Might I add
she is ALL heart. We use NO whips OR spurs on her!
Dec.12th- The updated standings are in....Jessie and I are in a 3-way tie at 16th on the list for the Open
Saddle. We are 9 points behind the first place person so it will be a long shot for us. I am just keeping my fingers crossed
for Stephanie. There are only 5 youth that have a shot at it and she is TWO of those 5! Odds look good but it's still comes
down to some good riding (keeping the barrels standing) and luck!
Dec.16th - They
did great for the final run with the AzBRA! Jessie gave Stephanie a 19.227 for 3rd in the 3D. As it was a very tight race
that left her 5th overall. But, a very nice, consistant effort for them both! Jessie got ANOTHER 18 for me...18.431 which
made her fall in the cracks (low in the 3D).
