April-May 2008
April 6th - We were at Empty Acres riding with the PBRA. Steph and Jet did PHENOMINAL!!!!!!! Are
you ready for this?????......... She got a 23.24 which gave her a first place in the "C" Poles!!!
She just nailed the timing on her run and let Jet do her thing. The first turn was a bit off but she got her right back
on track. Then she comes back with a HELL YA in her Progressive barrels getting a 17.272 even coming wide off of
barrel 3. She decided to NOT carry her time over and did a new run for her 4D getting a 17.3 which turned
out to be a great decision netting her a 2nd in the 3D!!!! If she had carried her first time she would've been
4th in the 2D but out of the money. Now if she can just KEEP doing what she did today she could be unstoppable. May 4th - Steph did well at the PBRA in barrels. The progressive run was a 17.6 and she decided to do a
new run for the 4D. Once again, that paid off as she came back with a 17.4 getting first in the 2D. She knocked
a pole over so that wasn't good. I did a progressive pole run and got our 23. I decided to not do a progressive
or 4D barrel run which ended up being a bummer decision. The fast time of the day was a 16.9. Well, I went ahead and
ran a time only after the event was done (barrels in the same spot) and got a 16.8!!! Dang....would've been the
run of the day. Oh, well. May 10th - Steph was working and then had a Bday party to go to so I took Jet to
New River for a barrel and pole run. Her barrels was an 18.668 which put her first. I lost hold of me reins between
one and two so I'm sure that didn't help. Her poles were amazing but much to mine (and some others) surprise
it was said to be a 24.377 I thought it odd since Jewel also got a 24 and her run was NOT perfect. Hmmmm, oh well.
That time still netted her a 2nd place. We came in 3rd with only running 2 events. May 17th -
Jet really had a great night at SSC. Steph got a 2nd place in Barrels with
an 18.331. Then she got a 2nd again in the Bridwell Bonsai. Oh...what a smoking time in the Poles! A 23.256.....unfortunately,
they caught the last pole possibly with her stirrup as her foot was out of it for her entire run back up. Without the
5 sec. penalty she would've had first place! Then there was a repeat for the tailspin. She had to weave up
5 barrels but tipped the next to the last one. He run was a 10.?? Although, I didn't hear all the other times
I am sure (without the penalty)if she wasn't first she was top 3. No doubt she would've had High Point.
So close, but still a great night. Now she has felt another 23 second run. She'll get it! I, once again, did
a barrel and pole run. Barrels was an 18.162 and poles was WAIT FOR IT.........22.90.
AMAZING......she FINALLY got her 22!!! Great Job miss JET~~ May 31st -
We ran with the NBHA at Horse Lovers for our last event before Stephanie leaves to California. Steph and Jet had
a pretty good barrel run with an 18.171 but I do believe the pattern was smaller. I got a 17.814 and both of us were
just out of the money. Their Poles were very nice with a 24.8 even though the first turn was off but she got her back
on track. I got a 23.412 in Poles but again we both just missed the payout. June 2nd -
I decided to take Jet out and put her through a few tests like we did with Tomy for the Mounted Patrol. First, I got
the blue tarp out. I shook it and laid it out on the ground...she was not fazed. I then asked her to walk
right over top of it and she didn't hesitate. Even when she got the tarp caught on her back foot she just kept walking
right over it. Then I draped it over her back, pulled it up on her neck and finally pulled it off over her head.......she
didn't care! I got out an umbrella and popped it open right in front of her face and she didn't flinch.
I held it over her head and on both sides of her face as well. I collapsed the umbrella and ran it all over her. body
She was ticklish..LOL. Lastly, I got out the flag and let it flap arond her face and drug it up and over her neck
with no reaction. I was completely amazed at how she handled all that stuff. I know tractors, water trucks and
the commotion of people don't bother her either. With this in mind, we have decided that Steph will take Jet
as a back up to California and see how she does. I think that once Jet sees there is no arena she will just enjoy
the relaxing time there. If she does well then Stephanie and I, both, have the oportunity to go back to California in
August for a 2 day patrol. If that happens we will take Jet and Tomy again.
