Heaven now has the most beautiful little
angel ever. R.I.P.....Cheyanne Chantry 5-7-2001 to 1-17-2008
Cheyanne
is the 6 year old daughter of Melanie from Tonopah and Cavin of Desert Hills. Melanie and Cheyanne had just finished
swimming last April when Cheyanne said she felt sleepy, seconds later she collapsed. Melanie figured Cheyanne was sick, maybe
it was the flu. They went to the doctor and after a few tests and a cat scan what they discovered was devastating, it
revealed that a tumor had wrapped around Cheyanne's brain stem. Melanie was told by doctors her daughter probably had
2 years to live. Cheyanne spent the next 6 weeks going through an aggressive radiation regimen. Doctors hoped it would stop
the tumor from spreading. The next several months were spent doing usual kid stuff. Cheyanne started 1st grade, got a dog,
and lost her two front teeth. Then on Thanksgiving Day Melanie noticed Cheyanne using her left hand instead of her right.
Cheyanne was back in the hospital. This time the cat scan showed the tumor had spread, doctors told Melanie her daughter had
3 months to live. The family went on a trip to Disney World (courtesy of the Make-A-Wish-Foundation). Other businesses
and people also helped the family raise money to pay for some of the medical expenses and a trip to Disney Land. In
the last month the tumor started to alter what Cheyanne could do, as she had lost almost all movement on her
right side. The family used a wheelchair to get her from place to place. After the Disney Land trip her health deteriorated rapidly and on Thursday, January 17th,
2008 she left this life to join God in the "Happiest Place NOT on Earth"! Please continue your
prayers for the Chantry & Thomas families, as even though they know she is in heaven, they will still miss
her intensely. Also, if you'd like to donate, the family is asking that you make donations to the Barrow Neurological
Foundation, 350 West Thomas Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85013, so that another family in the future might be spared this terrible
pain.

8-28-1946 to 12-10-2007
This photo is of my dad, gma (92 years young) and my Uncle Kent. My uncle passed away on December
8th, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Uncle Kent was the owner of Airport Taxi Service
in Amarillo, TX. His dear friend took over the taxi business and is doing well to keep it going in memory of Kent.
You can't miss those royal blue/white Lincoln Town Cars at that airport. Nicest taxis there! Many years
back he also owned and raced a dragster car. When I find the photo of that I will scan and upload it. Chris, Stephanie and I were able to visit him for Thanksgiving. When we left on the 25th he couldn't get
up to say good-bye and he was crying....I believe in his heart he knew it was the last time he'd see us. We spent
a lot of time with him on that visit and I know he loved that. I only wish we had spent more time with him on past visits
but he was always working. The following Sunday he entered the hospital. Then the following Thursday he was
transferred to Hospice. Two days later, on Saturday afternoon, he passed away (ironically I was at a fundraiser for
little Cheyanne when I received the call - see story above). Sadly, when he passed, my sister Annette was in route to
Amarillo from Missouri but she did get to see him over the Thanksgiving holiday too. I flew out the next morning so
we could all be there when my dad told gma. We are greatful we got to see him just 2 weeks before but he will still
be terribly missed. It's been very devastating to gma to loose her baby boy. I agree...parents (no matter
their age) should NEVER have to bury their children. In the months since his passing she has been doing better.
She knows that he is no longer in pain and that has some comforting factors to it. Gma told me that he used to call
me his "tall" niece. That made me smile. In his office we found all the pics of Chris and Steph I had
sent him over the years. Life is very precious. Don't let time slip by without letting those you care for
know that you love them!! RIP!!!
