Jessie and I turning the barrel

Jessie is the great granddaughter of Jessie James and is an absolutely beautiful buckskin mare.  She stands at 14.1 hands, her mane hangs past her neck and her tail drags the gound. We aquired her in November of 2000 with the idea that I would work her some and then sell her.  When I learned that Tomy (our other horse) was for sale his owner was interested in "possibly" trading Tomy for Jessie. Then she decided that her height (or lack of) might be an issue in her breeding program.  So, Jessie remained with us.  She was 5 years old and only knew the basics.  I started to work her and then advertised her for sale.  Someone was interested so I took her to a gymkhana in April of 2001 for this person to see.  Their first reaction was to say, "Oh, she's little."  Again, her height was an issue but lucky for us the person decided against purchasing her.  I decided to do a time only on barrels that day to which she got something like a 24sec. run.  That is pretty much where it all started as I then began competing regularly on Jessie in gymkhanas.  She has won either Hi-Point or Reserve on a VERY regular basis which is quite impressive for a little horse who had no training. The funny looks we get when going into the arena turn to surprised looks as we exit.  People just don't expect that speed from such a small horse.  She now averages 18 sec. barrel runs.  At the beginning of 2002 both my kids started riding and winning on her as well.  In the past I have had a number of people approach me with an interest in purchasing her.  Much to their dismay, at that time, I told them she was not for sale.  I am now considering selling her ONLY to the perfect family with a young child that would have her for many, many years.  She has done wonders for Stephanie's confidence but I want Steph to move on so she can continue to grow and learn.  It may be time for some other kid to learn from Jessie.  Inquire if interested.
